Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act of 2019 (the “SECURE Act”)

On 12/20/19 President Trump signed into law the “Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2020 (H.R. 1865)” which included the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act of 2019 (the “SECURE Act”).  The Act includes changes regarding retirement age, retirement plan access and lifetime income options in retirement plans.

UPDATE TODAY 2/23/2022, the IRS issued “Proposed Regulations” under the Secure Act on the impemnetation of the new law, including provision as to after death distributions.  See Link below IRS 2/23/2022 Proposed Regulations under the Secure Act.
